I have little to no experience in the world of dance. My knowledge in this art form spans eight or nine seasons of So You Think You Can Dance and one trip to the Festival Trans-Ameriques in Montreal (plus a handful of shows I’ve seen through NAC Dance). However, I enjoy going to see dance pieces simply because they challenge me in such a way to find new vocabulary through which I can describe a physical performance. Damaged Goods is a brand new show featuring contemporary choreography by Ottawa local Jocelyn Todd and is the only dance show at this year’s Ottawa Fringe Festival. Although it has received its share of talk and scandal, if you will, you should definitely see this show for its artistic merits more so than the controversy it inspired.
