Lisa Jeans Sheds New ‘LIGHT’ on Familiar Ground
Don’t let the title fool you, Lisa Jeans’ new show presented by the Theatre Artists’ Cooperative: the Independent Series (or TACTICS) at Arts Court Theatre is anything but ‘light’ material. A dark and visceral piece, LIGHT illuminates one individual’s struggle with anorexia and her journey towards self-acceptance. This production, though heavy handed at times, is highly commendable for the artist’s strong choices and statements. The text is a refreshing new perspective on familiar territory and the performance offers an excellent use of both soundscape and projection. Not for the faint of heart (due to its triggering and mature content), it is a theatrical event you are not likely to forget any time soon.
