The Show Must Go On

 Carol Sinclair

An actor fresh out of performing arts school is cast as Rumpelstiltskin in a children’s touring theatre company to perform 186 shows across the country.   Hilarity ensues as he and two other actors endure hellish storms and even worse principals, hotels from horror stories, sticky children and a lot of open road.  Through this journey the looming question every artist experiences haunts Jeff: What am I doing with my life?

Jeff Leard glides seamlessly between all his characters: the other actors, the children, teachers and drug dealing bikers, giving them all well executed unique voices that stay consistent from start to finish.    For anyone like Jeff who has struggled with the choice to dedicate your life to theatre and the conditions one must endure because of it will certainly share in his pain, laughter and ultimate decision about his art.
